Daphne cneorum 'Benaco'

Daphne cneorum 'Benaco'

Peter Erskin's collection from northern italy it is a fairly vigorous plant and very free blooming producing axillary as well as terminal flowers. I am not a huge fan of cneorum but peters selection is excellent. Peter visited us a few years back not only was he utterly charming he recognized most everything on the nursery without reading labels which is no small feat and hardly what one would expect from a captain in the Royal Navy.

Daphne cneorum 'Blackthorn Triumph'

Daphne cneorum 'Blackthorn Triumph'

Named for Blackthorn nursery, where Robin White creates most of the best new daphnes in the world, this is a tiny extremely flat prostrate trailing version of the always gorgeous Daphne cneorum. Best in a trough or at the edge of a raised bed where it can creep and trail over the edge. The very small size makes it a pain to take cuttings off, so we're very excited to be able to list it. Daphne cneorum f. verlotii x arbuscula

Not much is found in the literature about this hybrid, we have it in the garden for many years now and originally purchased it from Mt. Tahoma Nursery. It is very much like arbuscula but with narrower leaves and a paler green, arbuscula is very dark green. About 8-10 inches tall and increasing in width every year. I see very little cneorum, a much easier plant to make happy.

So thrilled to be able to list this super dwarf form of D. cneorum! Extremely dense little plants perfect for troughs or small rock gardens, very heavy flowering, and usually incredibly difficult to root from cuttings. This year the weather and who knows what else aligned in our favor again, and we're thrilled to have a batch for sale.
