Rock Garden Collection

We often get asked how to get started in rock gardening. Most of what is offered at local nurseries and box stores is completely unsuitable. Below are three collections that make it easy. We will pick a selection of relatively easy plants that are suitable for your area.

All you have to do is mound up some well drained soil, sand, gravel and a bit of organic material or composted manure. Place your rocks leaving spaces between them for plants. Our favorite stone is tufa, but irregular chunks of limestone or granite is also nice. Round fieldstone is ok but harder to work with. Whatever your choice, check out local quarries as it is far cheaper. Add a crushed stone mulch that matches your stone and you are ready for plants.

Once the hardscape is done set the plants where they look pleasing to you. Walk away and come back a bit later, if you still like your layout dig holes and plant them. This is as close to an instant garden as you can get and almost impossible to screw up. - All Rock Garden Collections also receive FREE SHIPPPING!

Rock Garden Collection Large

54 Plants. Large collection: 54 plants, mostly different but a few duplicates to provide some continuity in the garden including three shrubs, daphnes, or dwarf conifers, we will pick something cool that should do well in your area. This should make a pretty impressive garden. Like all gardens it takes a couple of years for a rock garden to mature. The cushions need time to conform to the rocks and soften the edges. The biggest mistake most new gardeners make is planting something so fast growing that it totally hides your rocks. Over time you will find favorite genera, if you like campanulas and they do well in your garden add some more dwarf ones. Over time the garden will reflect your taste.
